General Information about the Armenoi Municipal Unit The Municipal Unit of Armenoi consists of the following communities: Armenoi, Kalyves, Kares, Machairoi, Nio Chorio, Ramnis and Stylos. In the Municipal Unit of Armeni, apart from the beautiful village of Armenoi which is surrounded by a verdurous area it is also worth to visit Kalyves, a small town built by the seaside of Souda Bay. In Kalives there is a Venetian fort, a watermill of the Venetian Era as well as a number of Minoan Era tombs. You can enjoy your swim in the crystal clear waters where the Koiliaris and Ksydas rivers join the sea. In Stylos you can visit the Samonas village with archaeological findings of the Minoan Era, the fossil of a sea lion and the holy church of Agios Ioannis. In Ramni and in the area Kyriakosellia you can visit the holy church of Agios Nikolaos of the Byzantine period, in Kares the church of the birth of the Virgin Mary also of the Byzantine period and in Provarma the church of Agia Triada. In Megala Chorafia you can visit the great archaeological site of Aptera. Also, you can visit important sites of the Minoan Era in Macheroi and in Nio Chorio.
