General Information about the Voukolies Municipal Unit
The Voukolies consists of the Municipal Unit parts of Anoskeli, Voukolies which is the county seat, Kakopetros, Nerianon, N. Chorio, Tavronitis, Polemarchi, Palea Roumata and Chrysavgi. In Voukolies you can visit the historical tower, the church of Agios Konstantinos and visit the bazaar organized every year in the Holy Friday. In Palaia Roumata there is the church of Agios Georgios built in a cave which acted as a secret school during the Turkish Occupation. In the Archontiko area you can visit the Venetian Villa Renieri and the folk library which offers a large number of books. In the Gavalochori village there are the ancient findings of the Geometrical period and the monastery of Agia Triada.

The city of Chania lists hundreds of years of history and has not lost its former glory, and has saved entire Venetian, Turkish and Jewish neighborhoods with well-preserved buildings.
There is daily communication from Chania to Athens from the airport in Akrotiri Chania, 15 km east of the city, and a sea connection with Piraeus through the port of Souda.
