General Information about the Kandanos Municipal Unit
The Municipal Unit of Kantanos consists of the communities of Kantanos, Kakodiki and Plemeniana. The village of Kantanos is known from history and particularly from the heroic resistance of its citizens against the Germans, since most of the citizens were murdered and the village itself destroyed completely from the conquerors. In this municipal unit there are many remarkable Byzantine churches like that of the Holy Fathers in Floria, Agioi Apostoloi in Despotiko, of Christ in Plemeniana and Michail Archangelou in Kantanos. It is worth visiting the ruins of the ancient Hellenistic town of Kadros and the chiseled graves in the rock.
