General Information about the Kryonerida Municipal Unit
The Municipal Unit of Kryonerida consists of the communities of Alikampos, Vatoudiaris, Vryses, Vafes, Emprosnerou, Mazas, Nippou, Champathon and Fone. Vryses, a village full of vegetation and the waters of the Vrysanos river, is a communications centre, very well-known for its delicious yoghurt and honey. Emprosneros, a vilage as green as Vryses, you can visit the renovated tower of Imbrahim Alidakis and the church of Agios Antonios. In Vafes there is the gorge and the cave of Krionerida where the turks burned almost 130 women and children. The historical folklore museum of the village is rather interesting as well. In Maza you can see the brigde "Elliniki Kamara" dated back to the Greek-Roman years and the byzantine church of Agios Nikolaos with its murals. Finally in Champatha you can visit the temple of Agios Georgios and in Alikampos the temple of the Virgin Mary.

The city of Chania lists hundreds of years of history and has not lost its former glory, and has saved entire Venetian, Turkish and Jewish neighborhoods with well-preserved buildings.
There is daily communication from Chania to Athens from the airport in Akrotiri Chania, 15 km east of the city, and a sea connection with Piraeus through the port of Souda.
