General Information about the Mithimnis Municipal Unit
The Mithimnis Municipal Unit consists of the communities of Voulgaro, Malathyros, Pervolakia, Potamida, Rokka, Sassalos, Sfakopigado, Topolia, Faleliana, Charethiana, Kaloudiana and Drapanias. All of the above villages lie among a rich layer of vegetation and wild nature. Near many of those you can visit various gorges like the one in Voulgaro or Topolia, Rokka, Sassalo and Malathyros as well as a number of churches. Particularly interesting is the cave of Agia Sofia in Katsomatado inside of which is the church of Agia Sofia as well as many stalagmites. In Drapanias you can visit the archaeological site of Mithimna and the Venetian Villa Trevizan. In Potamida there is the house of Manos Katrakis and the Komolithoi. Finally in Nopigia you can enjoy the sea, camping and the stone outdoor theatre.

The city of Chania lists hundreds of years of history and has not lost its former glory, and has saved entire Venetian, Turkish and Jewish neighborhoods with well-preserved buildings.
There is daily communication from Chania to Athens from the airport in Akrotiri Chania, 15 km east of the city, and a sea connection with Piraeus through the port of Souda.
