Holy monastery of Chrysoskalitissa

The holy monastery of Chrysoskalitissa is located on the southwest side of the prefecture of Chania.

More specifically, it is 70 km from the city of Chania and just 5 km from Elafonissi (one of the reasons it has many visitors every year).

According to tradition, it got its name because of its last (98) step which was made of gold and was sold during the years of Ottoman rule.

It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Holy Trinity and is celebrated on August 15.

Holy kind of beauty as it is literally built on a rock with an altitude of 35 meters and a view of the endless blue of the Libyan Sea.
