Sougia is a small fishing village on the south side of the prefecture of Chania, 75 km southwest of the city of Chania.

Although Sougia was known for her hippies and quiet in the 70’s, she still keeps this ideology intact. And this is because even today there are no services in the village (banks, doctor’s offices) and points of sale of important goods (gas station, pharmacies). This means that few visitors actually spend their evenings there, although in Sougia there are hotels, rooms to let, restaurants – taverns and cafes.

Right in front of the village you can find the beach of Sougia. A sandy, blue, clear and deep sea which is well organized with sunbeds and umbrellas.

Sougia is also a very popular place for hiking, as it is the end of the Gorge of Agia Irini and also the end of the E4 route Paleochora – Sougia that passes through the ancient village of Lissos.
