Stavros is a quiet seaside resort located in the northeastern part of the cape. It is a vacation spot because it is close to the airport and the port. There are also rooms to let, hotels, restaurants and beaches.
Stavros beach is a fully organized beach with sunbeds, safe and shallow. It is mainly a windless beach as it is located in a bay completely protected from winds.
The enchanting seaside village of Stavros, inspired the American actor Fredric March to film the legendary book of Nikos Kazantzakis, Alexis Zorbas. Indeed, in the 60’s a Greek-British production, directed by Michalis Kakogiannis and starring Anthony Quinn, makes the idea of March a reality by dancing on the Cross that legendary dance-syrtaki, to music by Mikis Theodorakis.
